Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is not happy with Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, comparing the move to the end of his career. Speaking with Sky Sports, the football pundit believes that this signing is a sad climax for Ronaldo, who joined the Saudi Arabian club for a reported deal worth 200 million Euros, making him the most expensive player in the world.

"In some ways, it's a sad end for him. Two of the greatest players in Messi and Ronaldo — Ronaldo finished his career during an interview with Piers Morgan and Messi has won the World Cup. It's not the best way to go out," said Carragher.

While no details on the finances were released along with Al Nassr's official announcement, the Portuguese forward has reportedly signed a two-and-a-half-year deal until 2025.

The move comes after Ronaldo unceremoniously left Manchester United during the FIFA World Cup 2022. The 37-year-old did not take too well to being sidelined by current club manager Erik Ten Hag. Ronaldo spoke up against his management and the club hierarchy, and in doing so, forced the hand of the club, who mutually terminated the forward's contract.

Ronaldo will arrive in Asia after a brilliant career in Europe. After making a name for himself at Manchester United in his first stint at the club, he really came of his own at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, where he won two La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League titles, and three Club World Cups. He went on to set a Real Madrid club record with 451 goals and has more than 800 senior goals for club and country.

Ronaldo won two Serie A titles and a Coppa Italia while playing for Juventus before returning to United, where he had previously won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup.

After signing for the Saudi-based outfit, Ronaldo was elated, "I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia," he said in the statement.

"I am looking forward to joining my new teammates and together with their help the Club to achieve success."
