N’Golo Kante tests positive for Covid-19, to miss clashes against Juventus, Southampton

In a big blow for Chelsea FC before their Champions League clash against Italian giants Juventus, midfielder N’Golo Kante has been tested positive for COVID-19. The midfielder will also miss the English Premier League (EPL) match against Southampton this weekend. There is also a big question mark over his participation in France's Nations League against Belgium as it is just 10 days away (October 8).

Chelsea’s manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed the news and said that Kante must “quarantine and follow the government rules”. Tuchel also said that Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, and Reece James will also be unavailable for their clash against Juventus.

Tuchel speaks on players vaccination
Tuchel has answered questions regarding their player's vaccination status. “I am vaccinated like I said, I took the decision for myself but I don't see myself in the position to speak out and give recommendations. I think that would go too far, I'm a football coach and I'm not an expert in this. Everyone is an adult and lives in a free country and free society. We don't like to lose players but we are not angry at N'Golo (for testing positive), we are concerned and worried for him just like I am with injured players. We will take care of them,” the 48-year-old said in a press conference.

Juventus will miss Dybala and Morata
Italian giants Juventus will be missing the services of their star players. Paulo Dybala has suffered a calf injury in the match against Sampdoria earlier this week whereas Alvaro Morata has sustained an injury in the same match and was out of the field after playing just eight minutes. Juventus manager Allegri has confirmed the unavailability of the two players against Chelsea as well as Torino later on. However, he hopes that the players will return to the squad after the international break.
