No Messi vs Ronaldo in Champions League; draw to take place once again

The draws for the UEFA Champions League will be made once again amid controversy regarding the procedure of the draw. Earlier the draws meant that Messi's Paris Saint-Germain were drawn against Ronaldo's Manchester United. A string of technical errors has meant that UEFA have been forced to do the draws again.

UEFA said in a statement, “Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.”

Manchester United were in the same pot of unseeded teams with fellow group opponents Villareal, which was big blunder from UEFA technical team as United were seeded team. The UEFA technical committee head Giorgio Marchetti even stated that Ateltico Madrid and Manchester United can't face each other, which again was a colossal mistake as the two teams can face each other in Round of 16.

The draws had promised some spicy fixtures in the form of Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich while Inter Milan and Ajax were also scheduled to meet one another. The new draw might bring criticism form the likes of Real Madrid and defending champions Chelsea as they were drawn to face teams who are considered outsiders.

The draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 15:00 CET (7:30 PM IST)

Earlier the draws were as follows -

Benfica vs Real Madrid

Villareal vs Manchester City

Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich

Salzburg vs Liverpool

Inter Milan vs Ajax

Sporting Lisbon vs Juventus

Chelsea vs Lille

Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United
