Brad Marchand seen celebrating with Florida Panthers fans
On Tuesday, the Florida Panthers thrashed Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 in order to lift their second Stanley Cup title in a row. Brad Marchand had joined the Panthers in the trade deadline as he played a crucial role on helping his side win their second championship in the history of the franchise.
Brad Marchand joined his teammates in the Elbo Room as they were celebrating the win. However, the fans outside the room welcomed Brad Marchand with 'Thank you, Boston' chants.
Here is the video.
This was Brad Marchand's second Stanley Cup title of his illustrious career. He won his first title back in 2011, when he was playing for the Boston Bruins. He had featured in 16 seasons for the Bruins. The 37-year-old registered 20 points (10 goals and 10 assists) in the 20 playoff games that he featured in.
Brad Marchand on winning Stanley Cup after 14 years
Brad Marchand came close to winning his second Stanley Cup title in 2013 and 2019 when the Boston Bruins lost to Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues. But, he achieved the feat with Florida Panthers as they defeated Edmonton Oilers.
After securing his second title, he shared his honest thoughts of winning it after 14 years.
It feels completely different, Marchand said via NHL. I have so much more respect and appreciation for how difficult it was to get here and how hard it is and the amount of things that need to go right to win. There’s so many great teams in the League and so much talk about this guy deserves it, that guy deserves it, and you want to see certain guys win.
He even mentioned that his trade to the Panthers was unexpected but it worked out as he is enjoying the moment.
But everything has to line up perfectly. My situation is a perfect example of that. I shouldn’t have been here. But it worked out – and I’m enjoying the hell out of, he added.
Brad Marchand's contract will expire as the end of the month and it will be interesting to see whether he re-signs with the Florida Panthers or call it quits.
