The Washington Capitals paid their tribute to TJ Oshie with a post on their X account (formerly known as Twitter).

Thank you, Osh. Here’s to your next chapter.

The 38-year-old missed the whole 2024-25 season due to a chronic back injury that he suffered during the spring of 2024. During the 2023-24 season, Oshie managed to play 52 games as he notched up 12 goals and 25 points.

Both, Oshie and the Capitals were optimistic that the former could make it back to the lineup this season but was unable to return to his best during the season. He spent the season on LTIR hoping that he can get back into playing shape.

TJ Oshie has played a total of 1,010 games. In those games, he scored 302 goals and added 393 assists for 695 points. Not just this, he even added 34 goals and 69 points in 106 playoff games.

His best offensive season came during the 2013-14 campaign, playing for the Washington Capitals as he registered 21 goals and recorded 60 points. He scored a career high of 33 goals during the 2016-17 season, which was his second best. He was in the final term of an eight year deal worth a whopping $46 million, which he signed back in 2017.

TJ Oshie retires on Washington Capitals' foundation celebration

TJ Oshie was part of the 2018 Washington Capitals team that ended decades of pain by winning the prestigious 2018 Stanley Cup. The team was led by NHL's all time goal scorer Alexander Ovechkin as they defeated Vegas Golden Knights. It was their first Stanley Cup championship in the history of the franchise.

TJ Oshie has eight goals and 21 points in 24 games as the Capitals got the better off Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round, then the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second and then the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final.

Not just this, the players celebrated by taking a dip in a fountain located in the Georgetown Waterfront.

The moment was perfect for TJ Oshie to hang up his boots as he did it on the anniversary of one of the NHL's best remembered celebrations.
