The medals kept coming for the shooters at the Asian Games 2023 as the trio of Anant Jeet Singh, Gurjoat Siingh and Angad Vir Bajwa secured Bronze in the Men's Skeet Team on Wednesday, September 27. They came behind hosts China and then Qatar, with a score of 355 to their name.
The team achieved a collective score of 355, securing third place and further establishing India's supremacy in shooting. China clinched the gold, with Qatar bagging the silver. Meanwhile, the Indian women's squad ranked fourth in the shotgun skeet competition, falling behind Kazakhstan, China, and Thailand.
Anant Jeet Singh, aged 25, reached the men's individual skeet final, having qualified in the fourth position. Contrarily, the women's skeet competitions didn't witness Indian participants reaching the individual finals or securing team medals. India's medal count in the Asian Games 2023 has now reached 19.
Sift Kaur Samra, a prominent Indian shooter, clinched gold in the 50m rifle 3 positions women's individual final at the Asian Games 2023, leading by an impressive 7.3 points. This 22-year-old marksman also established a new world record by registering a score of 469.6 points.
The formidable trio, consisting of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan, showcased their prowess by winning the gold in the women's 25m pistol team category.
In another event, Ashi Chouksey secured the third position with 451.9 points. She was on track for a silver but was narrowly defeated by China's Zhang Qiongyue during the standing elimination round in Hangzhou. Earlier on, the Indian pair had achieved silver in the 50m rifle 3 positions women's team event.
