Chaos broke out at Jantar Mantar late in the night on May 3 at wrestlers protest site. The wrestlers alleged that the police abused them physically as they tried to bring a bed to sleep due to wet conditions at the protest site.

Vinesh Phogat alleged that a drunken policeman hit her brother Dushyant on the head. Also, she alleged that the police officer manhandled her and Sangeeta Phogat.

In the video, Tokyo Olympics medallist Bajrang Punia explained what happened late in the night, “Since it rained today, the streets are wet. That’s why we were trying to get a bed to the protest site. They’re abusing us. This is how they respect daughters.”

Rio Olympics medallist was distraught with the incident as she was seen crying and urging journalists not to touch her. In another video, Vinesh was seen crying as well as Punia urged for support.

“We're in need of the support of the whole country, everyone must come to Delhi. Police using force against us, abusing women and doing nothing against Brijbhushan,” Punia said.

On the other hand, DCP Pranav Tayal claimed that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti got folding beds to the site without permission which led to the scuffle.

“During the wrestler's protest at Jantar Mantar, AAP leader Somnath Bharti came to the protest site along with folding beds without permission. When we intervened, the supporters became aggressive and tried to get the beds out of the truck. Subsequently, a minor altercation took place and Somnath Bharti along with two others were detained,” Tayal said.

Wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for over a week demanding action against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Singh for sexually harassing a female wrestler.
