The disgraced Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and assistant secretary Vinod Tomar have been granted regular bail by Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday (July 20) wrestlers' sexual harassment case. However, the relief didn't come easy to Brij Bhushan and his co-accused Tomar as the bail has been granted on various conditions.
The court prompted the accused to no leave the country without its prior permission. The Delhi Court also directed that the accused should not induce the complainants or witnesses directly or indirectly.
"Please ensure that all the conditions are meticulously followed," ACMM Jaspal added.
APP Atul Srivastava today reiterated that conditions be imposed while granting bail. "He may influence witnesses so this condition may be imposed," Atul Srivastava said.
Notably, the Delhi Police lawyer also didn't oppose the court's decision.
Earlier, the court granted two-day interim bail to Brij Bhushan and Tomar on Tuesday (July 8). Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh had granted relief to Singh on a personal bond of Rs 25,000.
The sidelined WFI chief has been accused of sexual harassment by multiple women wrestlers. After protesting wrestler's persistent plea to Supreme Court to register an FIR against him, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was booked under section Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (making sexually coloured remarks), 354D (stalking) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was also charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, but the Delhi Police has since filed a cancellation report with regard to that offence.
Singh and Tomar appeared before the court in pursuance to the summons issued to them and sought bail in the case.
The former WFI chief has constantly pled his innocence in this regard, while very recently, the complainants alleged that the oversight panel that was formed in January to look into the accusations, was biased towards the WFI chief.
