Lakshya Sen has won everyone’s hearts with the historic feat he has achieved as he became the youngest Indian male shuttler to bag a medal in the BWF World Badminton Championships.
The marvel universe fan also talked about his experience in the recently concluded BWF World Badminton Championships in an exclusive interview with Sports Tak.
“It was a great experience playing my first championship tournament. I had to be mentally very strong throughout because the pressure is different in such big tournaments,” the BWF World Badminton junior championships medallist said.
“I wasn’t thinking about the medal and was taking one match at a time. The simifinal match was close. The defeat actually motivated me for the upcoming tournaments. Overall, it was a good tournament,” he said.
The young gun from Almora, Uttarakhand trains at Prakash Padukone Academy where he is being coached by Vimal Kumar. Lakshya said that his training under such experts helped improve his game a lot.
“Academy helped me improve my game. They have supported me. Prakash Sir and Vimal Sir's guidance and coaching helped me a lot.. It’s a proud moment for the Academy and Indian Badminton and also my for my state Uttarakhand. I thank everyone who supported me in this campaign,” Lakshya told Sports Tak .
“Almora’s support has always been on different level altogether. I dedicate this medal to them. Without their blessings it wouldn’t have been possible,” he added.
The 20-year old will take a break off his tight badminton schedule.
“It has been almost two and a half month I am out on tour…I will take a week break to spend sometime with my family. And above all I will go and watch ‘Spiderman-no way home’ to freshen up my mind which I couldn’t do while on tour. Then I will get back to the grind again for the upcoming tournament,” he signed off.
