Neeraj Chopra has been named among the five finalists for the 2023 World Athlete of the Year award in the men's category. He was initially part of the group of 11 athletes vying for this prestigious year-end recognition from the global governing body of track and field events.

Crowned with the historic World Championships gold medal and the Asian Games gold medal, Neeraj continued his reign supreme in the world of javelin throw. The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist further cemented his dominance by clinching second place in the Diamond League final, despite participating in only two Diamond League meetings in Doha and Lausanne.
