Olympian wrestler Sushil Kumar, accused in wrestler Sagar Dhankhar's murder case, was granted an interim bail from Rohini court on November 04 (Friday). Despite being granted interim bail, Sushil will remain under the vigil of security round the clock.
While ordering the release till November 12, the Rohini district court ordered stated that Sushil will have to furnish a personal bond in the sum of Rs 1 Lakh with two sureties in the like amount.
The bail has been granted on humanitarian grounds for the treatment of Sushil's wife. The court said that two police personnel will always be present for security with Sushil Kumar and the expenses of both the Delhi Police personnel will be borne by the Olympian.
The court also ordered Sushil to deposit Rs 10,000 as security with the jail superintendent. The Delhi Police opposed the grant of bail during the hearing but Sushil's lawyers presented the medical report of his wife before the court. According to the report, Sushil's wife is to be operated on November 5.
Sessions Judge Shivaji Anand said in his order that this interim bail is being given on humanitarian grounds. The medical condition of the wife of the accused is serious. Considering the circumstances of the two minor children, the Court was of the view that the presence of Sushil would be necessary during the operation. He is ordered to surrender before the jail superintendent as soon as the period of interim bail expires on November 13.
