Despite being named in the squad for the initial two Tests, Kohli withdrew due to personal reasons, and to the disappointment of many, he was not named in the squad for the subsequent matches in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala, announced on February 10.
"Virat Kohli will remain unavailable for selection for the remainder of the series due to personal reasons. The Board fully respects and supports Mr. Kohli’s decision," the BCCI said in a statement.
Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul's participation subject to fitness
Ahead of the third Test in Rajkot, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have rejoined the squad following their absence in the Visakhapatnam Test due to their respective injuries. Jadeja was sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Rahul experienced discomfort in his right quadriceps following a 28-run defeat in the Hyderabad Test. Both players were subsequently sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.
As the third Test in Rajkot, scheduled to start on February 15, approaches, it remains unclear if Jadeja and Rahul will be fit enough to take part in the match.
“The participation of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul is subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team,” the BCCI said in the media release.
