T20 World Cup 2024's squad announcement date

The teams should announce their respective squads for the T20 World Cup 2024 by May 1. However, changes can be made till May 25 but any thing after that must be approved by the ICC Technical Committee. Also an announcement on prize money will come in due course.

 

BCCI to organise red-ball tournament for India's women's cricket team

After a hiatus of six years, women's red-ball cricket is set to make a comeback on India's domestic schedule with the BCCI organising the Senior Inter Zonal Multi-Day Trophy in Pune, starting March 28. This development follows the Indian women's cricket team's resurgence in Test cricket, with recent matches played against Australia and England. The last domestic red-ball competition for women took place in 2018.

 

RCB's winning run halted in WPL 2024

Delhi Capitals (DC) ended Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) winning run with a comfortable 25-run victory. Skipper Smriti Mandhana's maiden Women's Premier League (WPL) half-century went in vain as RCB lost too many wickets in the slog overs. After Shafali Verma’s fifty, Marizanne Kapp’s all-round show helped DC dominate proceedings despite Mandhana’s blazing start in front of her home crowd.

Australia tighten screw on New Zealand

On the second day of the first Test on Friday, Australia took command by bowling out New Zealand for 179, following a standout performance by Cameron Green who scored an unbeaten 174 in a resilient last-wicket stand, propelling the visitors to a total of 383 all out.

 

Bajrang Punia opts out of WFI selection trials 

Ace Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has declined the Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) invitation to participate in the upcoming national trials. Instead, he, along with Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and her husband Satywart Kadiyan, have filed an urgent joint petition in the Delhi High Court. They seek a stay on the selection competition organised by the WFI in New Delhi from March 10 to March 11.

Jolly-Gopichand duo progress to German Open quarters

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand of India advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's doubles at the German Open Super 300 badminton tournament, securing a straight-sets victory against the Czech pair Soňa Horinkova and Kateřina Zuzakova on February 29. In their round of 16 encounter, Jolly and Gopichand triumphed over Horinkova and Zuzakova with scores of 21-10, 21-11.

France’s World Cup 2018-winning member Paul Pogba on February 29 (Thursday) faced a four-year ban due to doping. Pogba had tested positive for testosterone last year after Juventus's first clash of the season against Udinese.
