After the Delhi Police registered multiple FIRs against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former BJP MP has now opened up on the issue during a Press Conference in Gonda, where he burst into tears and said that he has cremated his brothers and his son and he is innocent.

"I have cremated five brothers with my own hands, cremated my father, cremated my son, I have faced bigger troubles than this and I will come out of this also unblemished," he said.

"Resignation is not a big deal but I am not a criminal. If I resign, it will mean that I have accepted their (wrestlers') allegations. My tenure is almost over. Govt has formed a 3-member committee and elections will be held in 45 days & my term will end after the elections," he added.

The former WFI president was referring to the ad hoc committee that the Sports Ministry has formed to look into the daily working of the wrestling federation as well as the new elections, while also dissolving the former federation as is.

"Every day they (wrestlers) are coming with their new demands. They demanded FIR, FIR was registered and now they are saying that I should be sent to jail and resign from all posts. I am MP because of the people of my constituency and not because of Vinesh Phogat. Only one family and Akhara (are protesting) & 90% of players of Haryana are with me," he said.

"It is my job to clear the allegations and stains on me and I have to come out unblemished from this charge. The party cannot help in this and I will come out of all these," he added.

On Friday night, at the behest of the Supreme Court, the police have filed FIRs on four different counts, reported Sports Tak.

These counts are as follows:
1. In the matter of complaints received from female wrestlers, two FIRs have been registered in PS Connaught Place, New Delhi District.

2. The first one pertains to allegations levelled by a minor victim which is registered under the POCSO Act along with relevant IPC sections concerning outraging of modesty etc.

3. The second FIR is registered for carrying out comprehensive investigations into the complaints tendered by other, adult complainants under relevant sections pertaining to outraging of modesty etc.

4. Investigation into both FIRs is being taken up in right earnest.
