WWE is set to make a major shift in 2024 as WWE Raw transitions from mainstream TV to Netflix, marking the first time WWE content will be available on a streaming platform. With this monumental change, fans are eager to know how their viewing habits might be affected. Netflix has provided key details about what this move will entail, including what viewers can expect from the new arrangement.
What WWE Content Will Be Available on Netflix?
Starting January 6, Netflix will become the official home of WWE Raw, with episodes available to stream weekly. Netflix members around the world will have access to new episodes shortly after the live broadcast:
"Episodes will be available to watch immediately after the live stream. If watching live isn’t supported on your device, these events are available a few days later for you to watch anytime, like other titles."
For those who want to watch offline, Raw will be available for download roughly 48 hours after it airs on Netflix.
However, the situation is different when it comes to other WWE programming such as SmackDown, NXT, and premium live events. Netflix members in the United States will not have access to SmackDown, NXT, or WWE premium live events. On the other hand, members in select countries will be able to access SmackDown, NXT, and major premium live events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble. Additional countries will gain access to these events starting in 2026.
According to WWE, the United Kingdom will be one of the regions where all WWE programming, including SmackDown and NXT, will be available.
Subscription Costs Remain the Same
One of the most reassuring updates for WWE fans is that the addition of WWE Raw to Netflix will not come with any extra charges. Netflix has confirmed that subscribers will not face any price hikes to access WWE content, including Raw and any other WWE programming available in their region.
Access to WWE's Archival Content
In addition to weekly shows, Netflix will also begin offering a selection of WWE's archival content. The availability of past episodes will depend on the viewer's location. For example, Raw's past episodes will be accessible in the United States, while additional historical content will be available in countries where SmackDown, NXT, and premium events are offered.
New WWE Programming on Netflix: Behind-The-Scenes Series
Beyond weekly shows, WWE is also expanding its content offerings on Netflix. Following the success of the controversial Mr. McMahon documentary series in September, WWE will be releasing more behind-the-scenes style documentaries. These projects will provide fans with an insider look at the wrestling world, deepening the connection between the WWE brand and its global audience.
As WWE transitions to Netflix, fans can look forward to an evolving range of content, from weekly shows to documentaries and archival material. The shift marks a new chapter in the relationship between WWE and its audience, opening doors for fresh programming and exclusive access.
