WWE Hall of famer Jake 'The Snake' suffered a major health scare and was rushed to hospital on Friday. He was known for his serpent friends like Damien who used to terrorise the opponents, he is also known to pioneer the DDT move. The 69-year-old wrestler recently opened about mental health issues.
‘I got incredibly sick, and I wound up going to the hospital on Friday night. Don’t remember a damn thing. It’s pretty scary. Come to find out I had pneumonia, and that’s not a good thing for me. I already have COPD, and to get pneumonia, and that’s not a good thing for me,' he said on his own The Snake Pit podcast.
‘I already have COPD, and to get pneumonia is like you’re flirting with disaster there. I was in the hospital for four days, and very grateful to find out that I’ve got a couple of issues and I did not know, One is I had blood on my urine, didn’t know that. Another thing is, apparently I’m leaking blood somewhere in my gut, and that’s causing my iron levels to be low,' he added.
'That’s not a good thing. Then to top it off, I got a problem with my ticker. But by going in, I caught it, and we got to go have a couple of procedures done, and it’ll be all hunky dory then. I’ve got this cough, but I’m doing better. It’s quite the surprise, man. Next thing I know, I’m waking up in a hospital. That was weird,' he concluded
He has been open about his ongoing health issues, including blood in his urine and concerns related to his gut and heart. Known for his candidness about his personal battles, Roberts has faced a history of addiction, which he has also openly discussed.

He returned for a second stint in 1996, staying for a year before branching out to other promotions. Over the years, Roberts also appeared in ECW, TNA Wrestling, and various independent circuits, solidifying his reputation as a key figure in the wrestling world.
Brief WWE Returns and AEW Role
Despite his departures from WWE, Roberts made sporadic appearances in the company in 2005 and 2014. His next major venture took him to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2020, where he began managing Lance Archer and later became involved with La Facción Ingobernable. During his time with Archer, Roberts became embroiled in verbal confrontations with AEW star Cody Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes Reflects on "The Snake"
Cody Rhodes, a prominent AEW star and EVP, recently reflected on what it would have been like to face Jake Roberts in the ring. Speaking to WLTX News, Rhodes expressed a deep respect for Roberts' work, saying, “I’d really like to get in there with Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. Because Jake The Snake, when he was a bad guy, was really just like psychologically menacing and different. He wasn’t yelling. It wasn’t the like big bombastic 80s promos. He was really sinister, like ahead of his time."
Rhodes' words highlight the lasting impact Roberts has had on the wrestling world, with many considering him one of the most psychologically compelling wrestlers to ever step into the ring.
