Matthew Forde earned his spot in the West Indian squad for the Under 19 World Cup in the 2020 edition, where he delivered some impactful performances. One of which was memorable instance during a match against Australia, he emulated the salute celebration made famous by his senior, Sheldon Cottrell. During this game, Forde's bagged three crucial Aussie wickets.

The highlight of his T20 career came on December 19, 2022, during the 2022 LPL season. In a crucial do-or-die contest for Dambulla Aura, facing the brink of elimination, Forde showcased his batting prowess by scoring his maiden fifty, making a significant contribution to the team's success.


Matthew Forde quickly became a sought-after player in T20 leagues around the world. His 2024 calendar started with a stint in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in January. By February, he was in Australia, playing three One-Day Internationals. However, his international breakthrough came earlier, on 9 December 2023, when he made his ODI debut for the West Indies against England at Bridgetown, Barbados. In that match, Forde made an immediate impact, picking up 3 wickets and showcasing his potential on the world stage.


After his successful debut, Forde's schedule remained packed. In March 2024, he headed to Pakistan to represent Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Following that, he toured Nepal with the West Indies A team in April-May for a five-match T20 series. His performances were impressive, and he ended the series as the second-highest wicket-taker.


Forde's form continued to shine in 2024. In June, during a T20I at home against South Africa, he delivered a standout performance, taking 3 wickets for 27 runs while opening the bowling, helping the West Indies secure a crucial victory. With a growing presence across formats and leagues, Forde's cricketing journey is one to watch.
