About Owais Shah
Owais Shah is a right-handed batsman from England who was considered a prodigy from his teenage days. He is a stylish and classical type of batsman with abundant talent.
Shah made a solid start to his international career with an ODI debut in 2001. Despite some decent knocks, he always seemed to be on the fringes of the national team. But, he bounced back on the basis of some solid performances on the domestic front, which ultimately led to his Test debut against India in 2006. “Ace”, as he is nicknamed, failed to grab the opportunities that came his way and hence, was not able to cement his place in the team. Due to loss of form, he was axed from majority of England's tours in spite of being a regular member of the ODI team. Shah failed to replicate his ODI magic in the Test arena, and was subsequently ignored for the Test series as well.
The Pakistan-born player also played county cricket for Middlesex, but at the end of 2010, was released and signed by Essex. Apart from being an active participant in the IPL from the 2009 season, Shah also played for Wellington in their domestic T20 competition in 2009.
He was picked up to play for the Rajashtan Royals franchise in the 5th edition of the IPL.
