India's swing king

After disappointing performances in India's two losses, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made up with a brilliant performance against Afghanistan.

World record performance

In India's final Asia Cup match, Bhuvi took five wickets, equalling a world record that was set by Argentinean bowler Pedro Arrighi.

Bhuvneshwar equalled the record for the most wickets taken with the least runs given away in an international match.

What is the record?

Argentina's Pedro Arighi achieved this feat against Brazil, who are not full members of ICC. He did the same in 2019, taking 5 wickets for 4 runs in 4 overs.

Among the full member nations of ICC, Bhuvi is the only bowler to take five wickets in T20I and concede just 4 runs in a T20I match.

Bhuvi's magic

Following Bhuvneshwar, second on this list is Aaqib Iqbal of Austria. The bowler took 5 wickets for 5 runs against Belgium in a match in 2021.

Third is Nigeria's Peter Aho. The bowlers scalped 6 wickets for 5 runs against Sierra Leone in a match for the African nation.

The former Pakistan bowler took 5 wickets for 6 runs against New Zealand in 2006. This means that Bhuvi has also overtaken the Pakistani pacer.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also bagged 15 wickets in the powerplay overs, i.e the first 6 overs, the most by a bowler in 2022!

Bhuvi right on top!
