Team India's Test purist Cheteshwar Pujara recorded the highest score by an Indian batter in England’s ODI domestic tournament.
Sussex captain Cheteshwar Pujara registered his career-best List A score of 174 in the ongoing London Cup against Surrey on August 14.
Batting at no.4 for Sussex, Pujara swaggered to 174 runs from 131 deliveries including 20 fours and five sixes.
This was Pujara's second consecutive century. The Indian batter scored 107 runs in 79 balls against Warwickshire on August 12.
The right-handed batter joined an elite company of Indians after his latest heroics in the Royal London Cup.
Pujara's knock of 174 runs against Surrey was the third highest List A score by an Indian batter on English soil.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly holds the record for the highest List A score by an Indian in England. He scored 183 against SL in 1999.
Kapil Dev has the second highest List A score by an Indian batter in England. He scored 175* against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup.
Pujara has not played an ODI for India since 2014. The Saurashtra batter has played five ODIs and scored 51 runs.
