South Africa skipper and star batter Dean Elgar has achieved a big milestone in the second Test against Australia on Monday (December 26).
Dean Elgar has now become only the eighth South African batter to cross 5000 runs in Tests.
Ahead of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and Proteas, Elgar was only 24 runs shy off the Test landmark as he tasted the glory withough breaking a sweat with a 26-run knock.

Former South Africa's explosive batter AB de Villiers scored 8765 runs in 114 Tests at an average of 50.66.
South African batting legend Graeme Smith scored 9253 runs in 116 Tests at an average of 48.70.
Former South African star batter Hashim Amla amassed 9282 runs in 124 Tests at an average of 46.64.
South African batting Jacques Kallis garnered a total of 13206 runs 165 Tests at an average of 55.26.
