Explained: Why did Sunrisers Hyderabad fork out Rs 13.25 crore for Harry Brook

Young England batter Harry Brook became one of the most expensive players in IPL Auction history. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad forked out a monumental sum of Rs 13.25 crore to acquire Harry Brook's services on December 23 (Friday). 

23-year-old Brook is among those young England cricketers who play fearless cricket and impose their will on the opposition. 

Brook's numbers in T20 cricket are absolutely fantastic. He has scored 2,432 runs in 99 matches at a stunning strike rate of 148.38. 

What helped Brook become a millionaire overnight was his remarkable performance in 2022 across all formats. 

Brook gave a tremendous account of his talent while playing in Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier in the year. 

In PSL 2022, the right-handed batter scored 264 runs at a strike rate of 171.42 and an average of 52.80. 

Also, in T20Is versus Pakistan in Pakistan, Brook scored 238 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 163.01 and an average of 79.33.

Brook didn't stop there. In Test series in Pakistan, he scored three successive centuries. Overall he amassed 462 runs in 5 innings at a SR of 95.06 and an average of 115.50.
