Team India lost the first ODI against New Zealand by seven wickets in Auckland. Let's take a look at five reasons behind the loss.

India didn't select a strong playing XI, that ultimately was a big reason behind the defeat.

India went in with five bowlers and they clearly missed the luxury of having a sixth option.

India performed well with the new ball, reducing New Zealand to 88/3.

With the old ball, Indian bowlers struggled and couldn't bag even a single wicket in 30 overs.

Captain Kane Williamson (94*) and Tom Latham (145*) batted superbly and deserve a lot of credit.

Rishabh Pant's form continues to be a worry for India. He scored just 15 runs with the bat.

Spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar failed to bag a wicket in middle-overs.
