India and Australia will clash in three ODIs, set to start on March 17.

The first ODI will be played in Mumbai with regular captain Rohit Sharma set to sit out the first match for family reasons.

In his absence, Hardik Pandya will captain the side for the first time in 50-over cricket.

Here, we look at the possible playing XI that he might choose for the match against Australia.

Openers
Shubman Gill's exceptional form is sure to keep him in the side, while Pandya confirmed that Kishan will open the batting.

Middle-order
Virat Kohli is sure to continue at number three, and Suryakumar Yadav will replace the injured Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. Captain Hardik will bat at number six.

All-rounders
Ravindra Jadeja will join the team at no. 7, followed by Axar Patel and then Kuldeep Yadav.

Pace attack
As Jasprit Bumrah continues to remain injured Mohammed Shami and Siraj will lead the fast bowling attack.
