India below the rest in unwanted powerplay record

India lost in the second semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup after losing the crunch tie to England.

It was a sub-par batting and bowling performance by the team, with many of Team India's frailties exposed.

The biggest of these is their unflattering record in the first six overs of the match i.e the powerplay overs.

India have the second-worst record in the powerplay overs of the match, averaging just 6.02 runs in each of the powerplay overs!

Only UAE has a worse record in the powerplay overs, and India played two matches more than the Middle Eastern minnows.

Leading the list is none other than England, with a mighty average of 8.64 in the first six overs.

This is what makes the Three Lions contenders for the trophy, as was displayed against India.

Led by openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales, the duo scored 63 runs in the powerplay vs India, showing how dangerous they can be.
