Skipper Rohit Sharma helped India to chase down 91 runs to beat Australia by 6 wickets in the rain-marred 8-overs-per-side game.
With this win, India have now levelled their three-match T20I series 1-1 in Nagpur. They lost the first match in Mohali by six wickets.
The victory also see India equal a record held by Pakistan, set by them just last year in a record that also includes a win over the Men in Blues.
After this win, India now have 20 T20I wins in a year, equalling a record that was set by their bitter rivals Pakistan in 2021.
In the ongoing calendar year of 2022, India have tasted victory in 20 of the 29 T20I matches that they have played this year.
Back in 2018, the Men in Green won 17 T20I matches that the side played. This puts them second and third on this list.
A surprise on this list is Uganda. In 2021, the side won 16 matches. Only Pakistan had done better than them till India's 2022 T20I season.
In 2021, Uganda won 11 of 16 games between September-October 22. After a one-run defeat to Kenya, Uganda went on a five-game win spree in November.
Australia’s 2010 T20I team were the first to win 10 or more in a calendar year. Six of those came in the 2010 T20 WC.
With the T20 World Cup as well as multiple bilateral series lined up from now to the end of 2022, we can surely see India well surpass this record.
