On Day 2 of 1st Test against Pakistan, Joe Root completed 1000 Test runs in a calendar year for the 5th time in his career.

Only Sachin Tendulkar stands ahead of him, who achieved this feat in six calendar years.

Root joined the likes of Brian Lara, Matthew Hayden, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara and Alastair Cook who have 1000-plus Test runs in most calendar year, i.e 5 times.

Besides this, Root also becamae first player to reach 5000 runs in World Test Championship (WTC)

He achieved the milestone on Day 2 of the first Test against Pakistan with his 27th run of the innings.
Root's achievement came in his 59th WTC match, where he averages over 52.
