Highest partnership for the 5th wicket against India by a South African pair in ODIs
Herschelle Gibbs and Justin Kemp shared a 99-run partnership in 2007. Gibbs (56) and Kemp's (61) innings went in vain as South Africa lost the game by 6 wickets.
The first 100-run partnership for the 5th wicket for South Africa in ODIs was in 1997. Skipper Hansie Cronje and Jonty Rhodes shared an unbeaten 102-run partnership in Bloemfontein.
Mark Boucher and Neil McKenzie shared a 107-run partnership in Dhaka in a Tri-series. It is the only partnership on the list which was in a successful run chase.
Jean-Paul Duminy and Faf du Plessis shared a 110-run partnership in Cape Town in 2011. Despite the partnership, the Proteas lost the game by 2 wickets.
Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller shared an unbeaten 139-partnership in a rain-curtailed game in Lucknow. The partnership helped South Africa beat India by 8 runs.
David Miller's unbeaten 75 is also the highest score by a South Africa batter at no.6. Miller broke Mark Boucher's 22-year-old record. Boucher scored 68 helped Proteas beat India by 10 runs.
The 139-run partnership is also the fourth-highest partnership against India in India in ODIs. George Bailey and Glenn Maxwell's 153-run partnership in Ranchi in 2013 is on the top of the list.
This is the only 5th wicket partnership for South Africa against India where both batters have scored of over 100.
