The all-important Asia Cup 2022 is all set to kick off from August 27 as August 28 will witness a high-octane clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan.

While India have won seven Asia Cup titles (1984, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2010, 2016 & 2018), Pakistan have two titles (2000, 2012) in their kitty.

Indo-Pak Asian clashes

The Sunil Gavaskar-led India got the better of Pakistan by 54 runs in the inaugural Asia Cup back in 1984.

1984

It was India's second consecutive Asia Cup win over Pakistan. Bowling first India bundled out Pakistan for 142 and then easily overhauled the target with four wickets to spare.

1988

Pakistan registered their first-ever Asia Cup victory over India. Pakistan successfully defended the target of 267 and bundled out India for a paltry 169.

1995

India were looking in complete control by reducing Pakistan to 30/5 in 9 overs when the heavens opened up. The rain in Colombo eventually forced the match to be abandoned.

1997

Pakistan clinched their second Asia Cup victory over India. The Men in Blue were beaten by 44 runs while chasing 295.

2000

Pakistan continued their dominance over India. Pakistan posted a target of 301 and then folded India to 241/8.

2004

Back in 2008's Asia Cup, India broke Pakistan's dominance. In a group stage match, India rode on Virender Sehwag's daunting 119 to defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets.

2008

While the group stage saw India dictating terms, Pakistan registered a comeback 8-wicket win over India in the Super 4s. 

Super 4s

India win by 3 wickets in last-over thriller. Batting first Pakistan posted a target of 268 while India rode on MS Dhoni's 56 and Gautam Gambhir's 83 to earn the victory.

2010

In the match in Mirpur, Virat Kohli had hit a fantastic 183 off 148 balls, a score that remains his best in ODIs to date to set up India's 6-wicket victory over Pakistan.

2012

India routed Pakistan Group A clash in which the Men in Blue earned a comfortable 8-wicket win.

2018

In the Super 4s match, India defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets. The latter could muster only 237/7 and then Rohit Sharma (111) and Shikhar Dhawan (114) combine to make mockery of Pakistan's bowling.
