But there is one list on which Kohli has trumped the former Sri Lanka skipper.

The chase master of India has scored 719 runs in winning causes for India, the most by a player.

He went to the top after his unbeaten innings of 62 runs helped India to 180 vs the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Jayawardene has scored 716 runs for Sri Lanka in winning causes.

The current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is a way down in third, with 685 runs in wins for India.
