Most T20I wickets in a calendar year record has been broken, here's the top five list

Nepal bowler Sandeep Lamichhane breaks all-time T20I record

Australia fast bowler Andre Tye took 31 wickets from 19 games in year 2018. Tye's best bowling figures in the year were 4/23.

Uganda's Dinesh Nakrani took 35 wickets from 22 games in year 2021. His best bowling figures in the year were 6/7.

South Africa's left-arm chinaman took 36 wickets from 22 games previous year. Shamsi took four-fers twice in the year.

Sri Lankan leg-spinner was at the top of list. Hasaranga had 36 wickets from 20 games at an average of 11.63.

The Nepal leggie broke Hasaranga's record on August 30. Lamichhane has 38 wickets from 18 games at an average of 10.78. He also took a record-breaking fifer against Kenya.

Lamichhane also broke Ajantha Mendis' record of most T20I series with at least 10 wickets. Lamichhane has achieved the feat four times now.

Currently, Lamichhane is ninth on the list of most wickets in T20Is. He has 85 wickets from 44 games at an average of 12.56.

Nepal’s leading wicket-taker 

Lamichhane can become the fastest to 100 wickets in T20I cricket. He needs to get 15 more wickets from the next eight T20Is to break Rashid Khan’s record.

Recently, Rashid took 5/9 against Kenya in a T20I, the best bowling figures for Nepal. Also, it is the second-best T20I figures in a losing cause.
