Southee overtakes Shakib after T20 WC opening match heroics

New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has created history.


Tim Southee has now become the highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket history! This happened during New Zealand's win over Australia.



He took the wicket of Australia skipper Aaron Finch in the powerplay as New Zealand demolished the Aussie batters. Southee finished with three wickets, taking his total to 125!


Southee has overtaken Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan at the top.


After making his debut in 2006, Shakib has 122 wickets in 104 T20I matches.

Afghanistan's Rashid Khan is number three on this list. Rashid has taken a total of 118 wickets in 72 matches.


Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga is fourth on the list. Malinga has  107 wickets in 84 matches.

Ish Sodhi of New Zealand is fifth. Sodhi has taken a total of 104 wickets in 82 T20Is.
