Sri Lanka registered an emphatic six-wicket win in a pulsating game against India on September 6 (Tuesday) in Dubai.
The Lankan Lions hunt down India's score of 173/8 with just one ball to spare and made it two wins in as many Super Fours stage matches.
Sri Lanka's successful run chase was powered by their openers Pathum Nissanka (52 off 37) and Kusal Mendis (57 off 37).
With Nissanka and Mendis both scoring half-centuries, it was only the fifth instance when both openers smashed fifty-plus scores against India in T20Is.
In 2010, Australia's openers David Warner (72 off 42) and Shane Watson (54 off 32) scored fifties against India at Bridgetown.
In 2012, the Aussie duo replicated their feat as Warner scored 63 not out off 41 balls and Watson amassed 72 runs off 42 balls in Colombo.
In 2016, West Indies openers Johnson Charles (79 off 33) and Evin Lewis (100 off 49) achieved the feat at Lauderhill.
Last year in the T20 World Cup, Pakistan openers Babar Azam (68 not out off 52) and Mohammad Rizwan (79 not out off 55) achieved the feat in Dubai.
Pathum Nissanka (52 off 37) and Kusal Mendis (57 off 37) became only the fifth opening pair to achieve this feat against India.
