In the 2007 T20 World Cup, Pakistan needed 13 runs to win off the last 6 balls. Then the not so known Joginder Sharma picked the crucial 10th wicket to make India champions.

Joginder Sharma had said," Dhoni told him not to take any kind of pressure and in case if we lose I will take responsibility for the loss".

Australia's Andrew Symonds was dropped from the 2009 T20 World Cup due to excessive consumption of alcohol and breaching the rules.

Zimbabwe denied Visas

Zimbabwe did not get visas to go to England in the 2009 T20 World Cup as they had earlier cancelled the tour of England due to political reasons.

Quinton's refusal to take the knee

During the T20 World Cup 2021, South Africa's Quinton's De Kock refused to support the Black Lives Matter movement by not taking the knee in a match against West Indies. He went on to miss the match.

Sri Lanka's total of 260/6 is the highest score in T20 World Cup till date which they posted in 2007 edition of the marquee event in Johannesburg.

Lowest total

Netherlands' paltry 39 against Sri Lanka in T20 World Cup 2014 is the lowest score by any team in the history of the tournament.

Shahid Afridi of Pakistan and Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka hold the record for most ducks (5 each) in T20 World Cup.

Most 'Ducks'

Chris Gayle smashed 11 sixes in his unbeaten knock of 100 off 48 against England in T20 World Cup 2016 which earned him the record of belting most sixes in an innings.

Sixer King

Former Pakistan's star all-rounder Shahid Afridi holds the record for picking the most number of wickets in the T20 World Cup. He has snared 39 wickets in 34 matches.
