A comeback for ages

Dinesh Karthik's return to the national team is nothing short of magical. But it is also a testament/proof of his hard work over the last decade.

Picked for India's squad

Karthik has been selected in the 15-man squad for India at the upcoming T20 World Cup hosted by Australia in October and November 2022.

Ceremonious return

The wicketkeeper-batter won the T20 WC in 2007, playing in India's earlier matches before being replaced in the semifinal and final by Rohit Sharma.

After 12 years

It will be his third T20 World Cup. Karthik was also selected for the 2010 T20 World Cup and played three of India's six matches in the competition.

Shared his joy on social media

After the T20 squad came out, Dinesh Karthik shared a tweet that went viral. In the tweet, he wrote, 'Dreams do come true 💙.'

ICC tourney after 3 years

Dinesh Karthik was called up to the India squad for the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup as well, but was not effective, scoring 14 runs in two innings for India.

Underwhelming captaincy

Karthik was the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders after Gautam Gambhir's departure but was underwhelming with the team, especially in IPL 2020 and 2021.

From commentary
to T20 WC

Ahead of the IPL, Karthik was in the commentary box and had seemingly given up on playing for the country at the international level.

2022 IPL resurgence

Switching allegiances to Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of IPL 2022, Karthik came back to form, scoring 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33.

Will he shine?

Having earned the title of 'finisher', his role at the World Cup is one to watch. He is touted to wear the wicketkeeping glove ahead of Rishabh Pant.
