New Zealand openers Tom Latham (83) and Devon Conway (61) rescued their side after England gave their team the follow-on.

Latham, in particular, achieved a special feat, becoming just the seventh Kiwi batter to reach 5000 runs in Test cricket.

The opener is 300 runs behind John Wright, who scored 5534 Test runs during his long career.

Martin Crowe scored 5444 Test runs, putting him in fifth.

Brendon McCullum is fourth on this list, with 6453 Test runs to his name in 101 games.

Stephen Fleming, with 7172 runs in 111 Test matches, makes it to third.

Former skipper Kane Williamson has scored 7680 Test runs in his 13-year-long ongoing career.

Topping the list is Ross Taylor, having scored a brilliant 7683 Test runs during his career.

Latham and Conway batted through 19 overs to lunch and then the entire 2nd session to bring the contest back to life.
