Usman Khawaja: The pilot who was born in Pakistan but shone for Australia

Usman Khawaja scored a century in the first innings of the last match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India.

This is Khawaja's first century in a Test against India. During the tour of 2012 and 2017, he did not get a chance to play.

He is the first Australian opener to score a Test century in India in the last 13 years.

Khawaja was born in Islamabad, Pakistan. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to Australia.

Usman is the first cricketer of Pakistani origin to play for Australia. He made his debut during the 2010-11 Ashes against England.

Usman Khawaja also has a pilot's license. He is licensed to fly commercial flights.
 Fun fact: He got his pilot's license before his driving license!

Usman Khawaja scored 2 centuries in ODIs, both against India in 2019. In Tests, he has scored 14 tons.

Khawaja returned to the Australian Test team in January 2022. Since then he is in strong form and has scored above 1500 runs in 28 innings.

The 36-year-old played an important role in helping Australia win the Test series in Pakistan in 2022. He scored 2 centuries, helping Australia win in his birth country after 22 years.
