The Australian team is gearing up for the Border-Gavaskar Test series against India which is set to start from February 9.

Australia have roped in Ravichandran Ashwin's duplicate to train on India spin-friendly pitches. Let's know about him.

Ashwin's duplicate bowler's name is Mahesh Pithiya who is an off-spinner and hails from Baroda.

21-year-old Mahesh has played First-Class cricket for Baroda. He made his debut in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season in which he has snared 8 wickets in 4 matches.

The coaching staff of the Australian team spotted Pithiya's bowling for the first time on Instagram, upon which he was called to Bangalore.

Mahesh is currently staying in the same hotel in Bangalore in which the Australian team is staying.

Mahesh is originally from Junagadh in Gujarat. He didn't have access to TV in his childhood. Later, he shifted to Baroda to pursue his cricket.

Pithiya, interestingly, didn't see Ashwin bowl until the age of 11. He got to watch him for the first time in 2013 India-West Indies series.

Even before watching Ashwin, Mahesh was bowling with Ashwin-like bowling action. Due to this, his friends started calling him Ashwin.

The Pathan brothers helped Mahesh to get a foothold in cricket. Yusuf Pathan keeps a close watch on his training.

While training with the Australian Team, Mahesh was seen dodging Steve Smith several times and he also got the star batter's scalp.
