WPL 2023: A day of many firsts

March 04, 2023 The inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League started with a bang.
The first match was played between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants.
The first run of the tournament was taken by Indian wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia.
The first six AND four were hit consecutively, by West Indian opener Hayley Matthews.
Tanuja Kanwar took the first wicket of the tournament, sending Yastika back to the pavilion. Also the first catch of the tournament.
Team India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scored the first half-century of the tournament.
Gujarat skipper Beth Mooney unfortunately was the first injury of the tournament, just four balls into her innings.
The first-ever maiden was done by Amelia Kerr, taking her two wickets in the same over.
The first DRS wicket goes to Saika Ishaque's name when she got the wicket of Mansi Joshi LBW.
And the first win of the tournament, guided by Harman's heroics, has now been added to the name of Mumbai Indians.
