WPL 2023: Historical partnership between Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma

March 05, 2023 In the second match of the Women's Premier League, Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning of the Delhi Capitals did wonders.
The openers created havoc with the bat as her side scored 223 runs against Bangalore.
Shafali scored 84 runs while Lanning played an innings of 72 runs.
Together, they made a record 162-run opening partnership for the first wicket, which now holds a special place in history.
In the first IPL season in 2008, Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir shared a 100-run opening partnership for Delhi.
With this partnership, Delhi becomes the first franchise to have a century partnership in IPL and WPL history.
Lanning's innings of 72 runs off 43 balls included 14 fours.
Meanwhile, Shafali Verma's 84 runs off 45 balls included 10 fours and 4 sixes.
