Giroud emulates Henry's record after stunning brace vs Australia

The star France footballer Olivier Giroud achieved a rare feat of becoming the all-time top goal-scorer for France.

Giroud has emulated Arsenal legend's Thierry Henry's record for France.

Giroud had to score twice during the FIFA WC 2022 match against Australia to match the Arsenal legend’s record of 51 goals.

Henry’s goals came in 123 appearances at full international level - an average of 0.41 goals per game

Meanwhile Giroud’s has a slighter better average of 0.43 after bagging 49 goals in 114 games.

Giroud's brace helped France rock Australia 4-1 in their opener at the Al Janoub Stadium.

Giroud scored the first goal as the simple tap which came in the 32nd minute.

Giroud scored his second through through a Kylian Mbappe cross in the second half which came in 71st minute.

Giroud has already surpassed the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Michel Platini in France's goal scoring chart.
