June 25, 2023 Lionel Messi received a brilliant ovation from his fans on his return to his boyhood club Newell's Old Boys on June 24.
He was six years old when he joined the club, before moving to FC Barcelona to become a football legend.
Messi made the trip to Rosario for Maxi Rodrigues' testimonial match.
It was also the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner's 36th birthday celebration.
Fans lit the stadium with fireworks and flares as Messi took to the pitch.
It was also a brilliant performance by the star forward.
The Argentine scored a hat-trick to sign off the birthday and hometown return.
This comes after the Argentine forward was unveiled as a new Inter Miami player after leaving PSG.
