Tejaswin Shankar won the first medal for India in track and field in the form of bronze. Entry to Birmingham

Tejaswin reached Birmingham three days back. He was the last name to join the Indian contingent to leave for Birmingham, but despite won the first medal for India in track and field. Fought odds to fire

The Athletics Federation of India had initially dropped Tejaswin, who was practicing in the USA, from the Indian team because he did not participate in India's national inter-state meet. After this, he challenged this decision in the Delhi High Court. Tejaswin was allowed to participate in the CWG at the behest of the Delhi High Court. He was eventually included in the Indian squad for the Games as a replacement for injured relay runner Arokia Rajeev.

Tejaswin finished 6th in the 2018 CWG. However, he improved a lot in the last four years. Tejaswin also holds a national record in high jump. He also recorded a jump of 2.27m this season. At the same time, his personal best is 2.29m.
