Lawn Bowls is a unique sport which is mainly dominated by England, Australia, New Zealand and Scotland. England have most medals (51) in the sport.
In this sport, the player rolls the bowl down a long green pathway known as stretch. The objective is to get closest to the jack which is the main target.
Lawn Bowls is played in singles, pairs, triples and four-player team format. Each team gets eight rolls from one end. Each end denotes one round.
Each team has to throw the bowls from 18 ends. The team which reaches 21 points first wins the match. If that does not happen, whoever has more points after the bowl is rolled from 18 or 21 ends.
The number of bowls by a team that are closer to the 'Jack' is awarded more number of points compared to the opponent. For each bowl that is closer to the 'Jack', one point is awarded.
