The Pakistani javelin thrower created history after breaching the 90m mark during CWG 2022, winning Pakistan's 1st track and field medal in 60 years in CWG
In the absence of Neeraj Chopra, Nadeem ruled the roost with a mighty throw of 90.18, breaching the major landmark ahead of the Olympic gold medallist.
But a bigger achievement for Nadeem would have been to down Anderson Peters, who managed to cover a distance of 88.64 m only.
Arshad Nadeem took up the local sport of Nezabazi on the insistence of his father. His love for Javelin Throw stems from this passion.
Nadeem’s father worked hard as a mason but despite having three kids, he would make sure that his sporting son always got his share of milk and ghee.
His father said, "I did not want him to work like me and I always wanted him to lead a good life, which he has ensured with his performances."
“Neeraj bhai is my brother. I miss him here. May God give him the best of health and I get to compete with him soon,” Arshad told PTI.
The 'bromance' has been brewing between Indo-Pak rivals ever since they took part in the South Asian Games in 2016 in Guwahati.
The pair have also faced off in the Tokyo Olympics, where Nadeem finished fifth, and the World Athletics Championships where he finished fifth again
