Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema quits international football

French footballer and 2022 Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema has called time on his international career. 



He is also celebrating his 35th birthday today. 



The star forward joined Real Madrid from Lyon in 2009. 


He has scored 329 goals in 617 appearances for 13-time Champions League winner Real Madrid. 


Benzema is just behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the club's all-time highest goalscorer list. 




During his time in Madrid, the striker has lifted 23 trophies. 

These include 5 CL trophies, 4 CWCs, 4 European Super Cups, 4 LaLiga Titles, 2 Copa del Reys and 4 Spanish Super Cups. 



He has also been named in the La Liga team of the season from 2018 to 2022.
