Despite losing trophy, Modric tops passing list at 2018 FIFA World Cup

Luka Modric was one of the star players at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. 


The Croatian midfielder led his team to the final of the mega event in one of the tournament's surprises. 


Modric was among the best midfielders, completing 513 passes in seven games for Croatia. 


Second is Sergio Ramos, who was a stalwart in the Spain defence and completed 492 passes in four games for his team. 




England's John Stones also makes this list with his 464 passes in seven World Cup matches.




Toby Aldeweirald completes the top five, with the Belgian finding a teammate with 440 of his passes in six matches. 



Modric was also awarded the best player of the tournament i.e the Golden ball.




He returns to the FIFA World Cup with Croatia as the skipper, in what might be his last World Cup.
