Gavi became the youngest player to score a WC goal at the tender age of 18-year-and-110-days since Pele (17 years, 249 days, in 1985 final)
The teenage sensation chalked up the feat by striking the ball with the outside of his right boot and it deflected in off the right post
The precocious Gavi at the age of 18 is the youngest player ever to play for Spain in a WC match
By deploying two teenagers in the starting XI, Spain have become the first European country to start with a duplet of Gavi and Pedri in a world cup match since Bulgaria in 1962
Gavi's adroitness with assists helped Spain in netting two goals in both halves
He swiftly passed the ball to Dani Olmo, who got Spain underway with their first goal and netted Spain's 100th goal
Gavi's all-round abilities also provided Spain with a smooth cutback to Ferran Torres which outdid the Costa Rican goalie for a goal
Beside goals from Gavi, Olmo and Torres' brace, other players who found the back of the net for Spain were Marco Asensio, Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata
