Germany's unique way of LGBTQ+ protest made the noise at FIFA WC

Germany players protested by covering their mouths in support of the oppressed LGBTQ+ in response to FIFA's One Love armband ban.

Six players, including captain Manuel Neuer and Ilkay Gundogan, also wore Adidas boots with rainbow stitching

This act of defiance spurred on after Fifa's threat of players being booked for wearing the controversial 'One Love' armband 

Homosexuality or same-sex relations are illegal in Qatar that can lead to an indefinite period in prison or worse despite Fifa's 'everyone is welcome' message 

Japan stunned 4-time WC winners Germany as they covered the field well in a shock 2-1 defeat 

Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano found the back of the net for Japan while Gundogan was the lone scorer for Germany.

Former Danish PM Helle Thorning-Schmidt wore rainbow outfit for her country's World Cup clash with Tunisia 

Later, Belgium's Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib wore a “One Love” armband when she met with FIFA president Gianni Infantino at her country's World Cup match against Canada.
