The great tennis player Roger Federer has said goodbye to his glittering career. He played the last competitive match in Laver Cup 2022 on September 24 which he lost.
Federer and Rafael Nadal played in the doubles match as they suffered against the pair of Francis Tiafoe-Jack Sock of the World Team. With this, Federer's career came to an end.
As the match ended Federer said goodbye to professional tennis. He first hugged Nadal and then Tiafoe-Sock.
Federer sank in emotion and when he was going to meet other players of Team Europe, he could not hold back his tears. Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic were all crying.
Federer then thanked the spectators. During the match, the spectators chanted in chorus 'Goodbye Federer'. The fans present in the stadium were applauding the GOAT but were also crying.
Every words that Federer uttered in the interview, came out with a pinch of tear. Along with him, his wife Mirka, fellow player Nadal, Djokovic also could not stop the flood of emotions.
Federer also mentioned the support of wife Mirka. He said, 'My wife helped me a lot. She could have stopped me long ago. But she didn't do that. She allowed me to play further'.
Federer said, 'I told my teammates that I am happy. I am not sad I thought that there might be a calf or hamstring injury. But it did not happen. The journey was wonderful. I would like to go over it again'.
During Roger Federer's last match, his parents, wife, both daughters and both sons were present. Everyone looked emotional on this occasion.
